We will be offering some early Orientation sessions in December and January for new students who are able to attend them. If you are an international student who will be in the United States during our early Orientation sessions you can register for an Orientation session when your school and college is meeting. Please note that all the residence halls at UConn do not open until Sunday, January 19, 2020. Students cannot move into their residence hall room before January 19th to attend an early Orientation session.
If you are not able to attend an early Orientation session then you will attend the final session on Monday, January 20, 2020. If you are able to attend an Orientation session before January 20th and you are a student studying on an F1 visa, you must also attend the "F1 Regulations Session." This session takes place on Monday, January 20th at 4:00 p.m. in room 101 of McHugh Hall.
ORIENTATION IS MANDATORY: All first time degree seeking students attending the University of Connecticut at Storrs are required to attend an Orientation program in order to register for classes. There will be a lot of important information communicated to you during your Orientation program. It will be to your advantage to take notes.
This program is for new students only. Parents, friends or siblings CANNOT stay with new students during their Orientation session. Parents, friends or siblings will have to wait for their student until the Orientation program ends between 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Parent Orientation is not offered during the December/January Orientation period.
HEALTH FORM & F1 REGULATION SESSION: All international students on an F1 visa have to complete Health Screening and attend a session on F1 Immigration Regulations. We will update students on these two sessions when they attend Orientation. All new UConn students need to submit to UConn’s Department of Student Health Services a completed Health History form before the January 2, 2020 deadline. Students can access the Health History Form through the Student Health & Wellness New Student Packet. The address for submission can be found on the Health History form. Please make sure to have this form completed which specifies all the immunizations that you must have to study at the University and submit it prior to the January 2, 2020 deadline. If you do not submit your completed Health History form your registration for classes can be affected.
|Sunday, January 19, 2020 is when residence halls open||TRAVEL TO THE UNIVERSITY - In terms of getting to the University, the closest airport to arrive at is Bradley Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. From Bradley you can arrange to take an Uber or Taxi to the University.|
|Monday, January 20, 2020||Final Orientation Session on January 20 – begins at 8:00 a.m. After you make an online reservation for this session you will receive an email confirmation. Orientation is MANDATORY for all first-time, degree seeking students at the University of Connecticut.
F1 Immigration Regulations Session - Date: Monday, January 20, 2020 - Time: 4:00p.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Location: McHugh Hall, Room 101. This is a mandatory session that lasts one hour and is conducted by the department of International Student and Scholar Services for all new students who are studying on an F1 visa. Important rules and regulations concerning studying in the U.S. on an F1 visa will be communicated.

**Students planning to attend the January 20th Orientation session should plan on moving into their residence hall during move-in hours on Sunday, January 19th or on January 20th from 4:00 p.m. on. There is no time during the full-day Orientation program on Monday, January 20th for students to move into their residence halls.
